1. Why Aren't Buckyballs & Buckycubes For Children?
Buckyballs & Buckycubes are for adults only and must be kept away from all children under the age of 14. Buckyballs & Buckycubes are dangerous for kids because swallowed magnets can stick to intestines causing serious injury or death. Magnets should not be put in the nose or mouth. Buckyballs should never be used as tongue or nose rings as they can be accidentally swallowed.
Buckyballs & Buckycubes should be kept away from pacemakers because high powered magnets can interfere with the pacemaker.
2. What are Buckyballs and Buckycubes?
Buckyballs are a set of 216 Powerful Rare Earth Magnets that can do just about anything. Mash them around in your hands for stress-relief. Mold them into geometric forms and structures on your desk. Snap ‘em together, pull them apart; the adult fun never ends with Buckyballs! Buckyballs Sidekicks are 125 Rare Earth Magnets will all of the fun of our Original Buckyballs, but with a few 'fewer' magnets. And Buckycubes? Well, they're Rare Earth Magnet CUBES, and they're available in 216 or 125 size. Pop 'em, lock 'em, slide and glide 'em for endless adult fun!
3. Where does the name Buckyballs come from?
The name Buckyballs is a nod to Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller, a famous architectural-type best known for the geodesic dome (a sphere made of triangles). It’s a fun shape to make with Buckyballs. FUN FACT: The Carbon 60, one of the strongest atomic structures known to man, are sometimes called Fullerenes. They too were named after Fuller for their similarity to geodesic domes. And Buckycubes? Well, you get the idea. Same great guy...just a bit more of a square.
4. Who buys Buckyballs & Buckycubes?
We like to say, “They’re a great guy gift.” But the truth is, Buckyballs & Buckycubes are fun for everyone except children! College students, Wall Street and executive-types, stressed-out or stress-free… Put a set in just about anyone’s hands and odds are you’ve found a baller (or cuber!) in the making. The only people they’re NOT for are children.

6. How will I know if my order went through?
The checkout process is complete when you get to the Thank You screen. To further ensure everything is as it should be, we email a receipt to whichever email address you listed when ordering. Sometimes these emails can take a few minutes to get to your inbox or get lost in spam filters. Having trouble finding it? Wait a minute or three, then search your inbox for a message coming from support@getbuckyballs.com. If it still doesn’t come up, we probably didn’t get the order.
7. Where do I enter my promo code on the site?
Clicking "Buy Now" on the home page will take you to the cart, the page where you dial in the number of sets you'd like to purchase. Scan down the left side of the page. Just below the word "TOTAL" is a black link that reads "Have a promo code?." Clicking it opens a window for you to plug in your code. Press the "Apply" button beside it and your discount should be applied.
8. How much is shipping to foreign countries?
For 1 set, international shipping costs $10.95. For 2 or more sets, international shipping is FREE! You read that right, FREE (well, we pay for it anyway).
9. What are the import fees or foreign duties required to ship Buckyballs & Buckycubes to my country (outside of the US)?
Some countries may impose import duties or VAT upon receipt. Unfortunately, this varies depending on where you are ordering from. We aren’t responsible for these added costs, so it’s best you investigate ahead of time.
10. When will my order ship?
We work hard to get your order out fast. If you order before 1:00PM EST Monday to Friday your order should ship the same day. Otherwise, it will ship out on the next business day. National holidays are the exception however as even the post office is closed.
11. Do you offer tracking information?
Of course we offer tracking info. We’ll send you an email the second your order ships and included in that email will be the tracking codes required to keep tabs on your package as it makes its way to you.
12. What shipping methods do you use and how long will it take to get my order?
We use a variety of shipping methods including USPS 1st Class and FedEx Smartpost (along with expedited options for an extra fee), both domestic and international. We’ll pick the shipping method automatically to best get your order to you while keeping it affordable and quick. Delivery times can vary based on how far you are from our warehouse, but orders shipped to US address should get to their final destination in 2-10 business days. International orders usually arrive within 16-25 business days, however may even take up to 35 business days depending on customs policies.
13. Do you ship to PO boxes? What about APO/FPO, do you ship to those?
We do in fact ship to all 3 (PO/APO/FPO). Not all of them accept all types of shipping though (PO/APO/FPO’s don’t accept FedEx for example). Never you fear, it’s something we consider when selecting a shipping method for each order. Still, on larger orders (5 sets or more), it might be good to give us a heads up when shipping to a PO/APO/FPO box, as the security-minded team in our warehouse would typically require signature for deliveries of this size, something those boxes don't allow.
14. What stores carry Buckyballs?
Buckyballs are currently a top-seller at more than 5,000 stores in the US and an ever-growing list around the globe! It’s hard to say which is the closest to you though. Your best bet is simply to keep your eyes peeled when shopping and/or tell your local shop keep how badly you want Buckyballs. That or order online. We offer free shipping on orders of 2 or more sets and same-day shipping. Not bad, right?
15. What are Rare Earth magnets?
Buckyballs’ magnetic core is one of the 17 “Rare Earth Metals” (they get a special box on the Periodic Table) called Neodymium. The arrangement of electrons in rare-earth elements lets them develop strong magnetic fields.
16. How are the Gold, Silver, and Black Editions different from the Original?
The Original Edition consist of 216 Powerful Rare Earth Magnets plated in Nickel. For the Executive Editions (Gold, Silver, and Black) we took all that fun, and plated them in real Gold, real Silver, and rare Black Nickel respectively. They’re a more upscale variation on a tried and true favorite.
17. Why 216 balls per package? What about the Buckyballs Sidekicks and Buckycubes?
216 is the perfect number: It can make 6 x 6 x 6 cube – along with loads of other stuff – and is just about a handful for most adults. Buckyballs Sidekicks and Buckycubes make a 5x5x5 cube, and are just as fun; just a little less of a handful.
18. What is in the base of the package?
Each set of Buckyballs & Buckycubes comes with a handsome plastic carrying case and some simple instructions packed inside the cardboard box at the base. You didn’t think we’d just waste that space did you?
19. Do Buckyballs or Buckycubes ever lose their magnetism?
Unless Buckyballs or Buckycubes are exposed to extreme heat (176 degrees Fahrenheit and above), they will not lose their magnetism. Keep them out of the oven and the attraction should be strong for years to come.
20. What about electronics? Should I be concerned putting Buckyballs or Buckycubes close to computers?
Keep Buckyballs & Buckycubes away from anything that might have a magnetic storage device in or on it, including computers, cassette tapes, credit cards and hotel room keys.
21. I know there are basic instructions in the box, but where can I go to learn more?

22. What if I lose a ball or cube, what then?
Lost balls (and cubes) are the opposite of fun. Luckily, spares are sold in packs of ten. Simply log onto www.getbuckyballs.com/order/spare-balls and do your thing. We’ll make you whole again in no time.
23. Does the plating ever crack or flake off? If so, should I be worried?
We do everything in our power to maintain the highest levels of quality control throughout our manufacturing and distribution process. Still, a single ball or cube might slip through through. No need for alarm: Both the outer shell and inner magnet are non-toxic. Still, we recommend discontinuing use as rough edges don’t always play nice with delicate fingers.
24. How big are each of the balls and cubes? How strong are they?
Buckyballs are exactly 5mm each. In terms of power, they are precision charged for maximum enjoyment; not so much that they’d be dangerous, but not so little as to lose out on even an inch of fun. Scientifically speaking, this means a magnetic flux of 50. Buckycubes are 4mm each, with the same magnetic flux.
