CONTEST: Bald Bucky Needs You

  • May 13, 2011

Bald Buckyballs Needs You

It’s time for another Facebook contest. This time we’re switching it up some; you’re going to need to help Bald Bucky to win!

Here’s how it works:

Step 1 – Click the picture below to download a full sized copy.

Step 2 – Print out the picture and, using your Buckyballs, dress it up any way you want (hair, eyebrows, glasses, go nuts, it’s fun).  Having trouble getting your balls to stick just where you want ‘em? Here’s a hint: Try putting the picture on top of something metal and magnetic, a filing cabinet or refrigerator door works best.  Not bad, right?

Step 3 - Take a picture of your creation and post it to the wall of our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/Buckyballs216) by 11:59 EST Sunday May 15th and you’ll automatically be entered to WIN A FREE SET of Buckyballs!

Step 4 – When has there ever been a step 4?  Just come back to our blog or Facebook page page Monday to see if you’ve won.  How fun is that?

NOTE: Though we’re announcing all of the winners Monday, we’re picking one winner for each day (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). For your best chances to win, you’re going to want to enter each day. Just be sure to not post the same picture more than once in total.

Now for the fine print:

- Pictures must can not have previously been posted to our Facebook page to qualify.
- Each picture is considered a new entry.  Please though, no repeated pictures.
– Three people will win free sets!
– Winner selection will be anything but random.  Someone from Team Buckyballs will pick who wins using any criteria they deem fit… in this case, we’re looking for creativity, humor, and fun.  Ready?  Set?  Go!

CONTEST: Show Us Your Balls In Action

  • April 29, 2011

Buckyballs Shape Contest

It’s time for another Facebook photo contest. It’s easy. It’s simple. And all it takes is a single picture of your Buckyballs in action to win!

Here’s how it works:

Step 1 – Take a picture of your balls in action – IE, make any shape, play any game, pose them in an interesting way on in your desk or in your house, and take a picture. Pretty much anything will do.

Step 2 – Post it to the wall of our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/Buckyballs216) by 11:59 EST Sunday May 1st and you’ll automatically be entered to WIN A FREE SET!

Step 3 – There is no step 3. Just come back to our blog or Facebook page page Monday to see if you’ve won.

Feel free to post as many pictures as you like. Please though, no repeated pictures.
– Three people will win free sets!
– Winner selection will be anything but random. Someone from Team Buckyballs will pick who gets what using any criteria they deem fit (we’re keeping it secret who, this time for their protection). How fun is that?

CONTEST: Bucky Blindfolded

  • April 15, 2011

It’s contest time again… this time though, you’re going to have to do it with your eyes closed.

That’s right, we want you to make a video of your trying to make something blindfolded! It doesn’t matter what, if anything, you actually make, all you need is a video of your attempt to enter.

Here’s how it works:

1 – Start by Clicking Here to see a video of Thomas McGinniss breaking the world record for The Fastest Time To Make a Cube Out of Buckyballs while blindfolded.

2 – Put on a blindfold, Buckyballs in hand, and point a video camera at yourself.

3 – Do your best to make something. Anything. NOTE: You don’t actually have to make ANYTHING to be entered to win this contest. All you have to do is make a video of your trying to make something while blindfolded.

4 – Post the video on the wall of our Facebook page by 11:59PM EST, Sunday April 17th and you’ll automatically be entered to win a a free set. We’ll choose the winners (two of ‘em) at random on Monday, but if anyone thinks they’ve beaten Thomas’ time, please submit it to the URDB as well. You might just have set a new world record! How fun is that?

Now for the fine print:

There really is no fine print, but if there had to be it would look something like this…

– You are free to enter as many times as you like!

– Two people will win free sets!

– Winner selection will be random. But, if you set a new World Record for Fastest Time to Make a Cube While Blindfolded (and submit it to the URDB) you could also wind-up in the history books. How fun is that?

UPDATE: Bring Bucky to Life Winners!

  • April 11, 2011

Our latest contest found us channeling Dr. Frankenstein: what better way to earn a set of Buckyballs than to bring Bucky to life?

We’ve always thought Bucky had a great social life…but thanks to these awesome entries, we also found out he’s an adrenalin junky, a star athlete, likes long walks on a quiet beach (wonder what else his dating profile says?) and who knows what else behind closed doors.

We asked Reid, our newest addition to Team Buckyballs, to pick our winners. After much deliberation, he found he was overly-inspired, and selected 4 winners (originally 2!) and 2 runners up. Check ‘em out!

Winner: Stranded by Brian Sippel

Reid said: “Calling in an SOS? To be honest, Stranded Bucky doesn’t look like he has it too bad on this deserted island with a beautiful palm tree as refuge from the blazing hot sun.”

Winner: A Bucky Leprechaun Sits Down for a Picture by Joshua Herndon

Reid said: “This Bucky Leprechaun (by far the most appropriate usage of our Limited Edition Green Buckyballs) really leaves me wishing we could do March 17th all over again! Joshua, I guess you have the Luck of the Irish on your side because you are one of our winners!”

Winner: Biker Bucky by Elizabeth Piearcy

Reid said: “Biker Bucky better be careful the Bucky Police don’t stop him from cruising the streets without a helmet, especially given its crouched position~looks like this is one Bucky in need of speed!”

Winner: Bucky Baseball by Roberta Poling

Reid said: “With baseball season now under way, Baseball Bucky looks ready to take the field and make an immediate impact. Judging from its wide frame, my guess is this Bucky batter cleans up.”

And thanks to our Honorable Mentions…

Bucky Ninja Stealth Attack by Matthew Phillip Hansen

Reid said: “This is one Bucky I would not want to mess with. Really great design and use of Buckyballs here!”

Bucky Gone Wild by Zach Pitts

Reid said: “This gets honorable mention instead of a win only because we can’t see what happens under the pixilation… we think we know, but we can’t be sure !”

Amazing entries! Thanks to all of you for participating. Watching Bucky come to life was fun. Which is how it should be. Because let’s face it. Buckyballs are all about fun.

If your creation made it onto this page, you just won yourself a free set! Email your name and shipping info to: Support@GetBuckyballs.com, and we’ll get your prizes out to you! As always, keep an eye out for your next chance to win. There’s more on the way. How fun is that?

UPDATE: Bucky Acronym Game Winners!

  • April 5, 2011

We get a lot of questions here at Buckyballs. Most everyone, before they buy their first set, wants to know how fun they are? The answer: Tons! Next, they wonder what it is that makes Buckyballs so amazing? Neodymium. Sooner or later though, almost everyone wants to know how Buckyballs got their name.  The answer isn’t much of a secret, but we thought it might be good times to put the question back to you.

For our latest contest we asked for a “Bucky acronym”, to answer what Bucky means to you. The results? Nothing short of amazing.

Here are the winners, with their buckin’ awesome entries…

  • March 28, 2011

For our latest challenge, we asked for side-by-side pics of something — anything! — that you thought was Buck-able (IE, able to be cloned with your Buckyballs).  The results were short of amazing. Dolly the Sheep would be impressed. In fact, when it was all said and done, we decided to pick 3 winners; that’s 50% more than the 2 we’d promised. Fasten your seatbelts… this is a fun one.

Alex’s “Yoshi” captures the wit n’ whimsy of that lovable dinosaur in green and silver 3D. BOOM. Winner.

Winner #2: Kevin Stolle Wins a Free Set of Buckyballs !

Winner #3: Mitch Lustig Wins a Free Set of Buckyballs !

Winning smile. Confident stature. Green background. He nailed it!

Here’s the thing though, these 3 took the cake, but there are loads more deserving of mention. In fact, all of the entries were mind-bogglingly good. If you haven’t checked ‘em out yet, skip over to Facebook, click the pictures tab, and have a look for yourself.

And a shout out to our Twitter winners…
We asked you to finish the sentence, “Buckyballs http://bit.ly/ibPvyr is a #gamechanger because…”

CONTEST: The Buckyballs Rorschach

  • February 8, 2011

Have you ever noticed that, much like ink blots or clouds, a messy set of Buckyballs can pretty much look like anything? It’s true, it’s fun, and it’s the very idea our latest Facebook contest is built around. Let us know what your balls look like to you and you could win a free set.

Here’s how it works:

Step 2 - This is the fun bit… Let your imagination run wild and let us know what your balls look like. Write “BUCKYBALLS RORSCHACH” then what you see when you gaze at your balls. Add it to the comments or caption section of the picture you just posted.
Step 3
- Tune in Friday to see if you’re among the lucky few who will win a free set of Buckyballs!

Now for the fine print:
– You are free to enter as many times as you like!
– Six people will win free sets!
